2026 Season – TBA – The Coquito Festival is usually held on a Saturday in early to mid-December.
The Coquito Festival is a fun annual celebration held in St. Croix that highlights coquito, a beloved Christmas time beverage. Coquito (meaning ‘little coconut’ in Spanish) is a traditional Puerto Rican holiday beverage. It is the island version of eggnog. This rich, creamy, and spiced drink is a staple during the Christmas season. Most often, it includes rum, making it the perfect holiday beverage for St. Croix.
Held at the La Reine Chicken Shack, the festival also includes great food, cold drinks, live entertainment, and a visit from Santa Clause for the kids. With its vibrant holiday atmosphere and cultural flair, the Coquito Festival continues to be a cherished event. It celebrates St. Croix’s close ties to the Puerto Rican community and our local culture.
HIGHLIGHTS
The Coquito Festival is a proud competition amongst residents of St. Croix to see who makes the best coquito. While traditional coquito is made with dark rum, coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk, and cinnamon, you’ll find flavored coquito like pistachio, peppermint, coffee and more! There are prizes for the top three best coquitos, as well as for the best decorated bottle. Attendees get to sample their way through the many booths and shop for their favorites.
